1st April 2005

Today I finished marking out the fret positions on the fretboard. I checked, and double checked each fret to make sure that they were "bang on".

3rd April 2005

Today I marked out the oak centre onto the oak.

4th April 2005

Today I cut out the depth of the neck using a bandsaw where I work. It it now taking shape to what it should actually look like.

5th April 2005

Unfortunately I did not have much time today so I only cut out the oak centre.

6th April 2005

Today I sanded down the oak centre so both peices were flat and clean prior to joining them together. I then joined them together using PVC glue, a bench, scrap wood, and a couple of clamps.

7th April 2005

Today I had an idea of creating a white top for the switches, as they are hard to get hold of, and when you do find somewhere that can supply them they are too expensive.

My idea was to flatten the top of the black switches and then join a white top onto it. Then other little changes should hopefully produce a good looking usable switch.

So I firstly flattened the top of the black switch and used fine abrasive paper to get as flat an edge as possible. I then cut out a rough size of the switch from a sheet of white plastic (3mm thick). After minimal cleaning I glued the white plastic to the top of the switch.

Once dried I filed the white top to the same size as the actuator. Then I used a file to put grooves in the top of the switch to give it more friction when using the switch. I lightly sanded down the new top to give it more ofa shine after the filing.

8th April 2005

Today I continued work on the bridge. As you can see from the pictures below I am having great success with it.

9th April 2005

Today I worked on the neck joint. I roughly straightened off all the joining edges to get a rough looking joint. As you can see from the pictures below I did not finish the neck joint as the edges need making perfectly flat to make a good joint, and it also needs the bolts positioning and putting in place.
